Press Release: Lee County Phase 1 Expansion Complete

Phase 1 of PRTC’s major fiber internet expansion in Lee County is officially complete, and customers can now sign up for service!  The 1st phase areas include a portion of 52 West, Dunigan Branch, Fox Hollow, Farmers Ridge, Old Landing, Big Andy Ridge, and Tallega/Athol.  It consists of nearly 80 route miles and will provide over 600 Lee County families with access to PRTC’s reliable, high-speed internet.  Those interested are encouraged to call PRTC at (606) 287-7101.

Phase 2 plans are being completed and will begin in early 2027.  This phase is larger and involves 125 route miles of fiber, with over 1000 homes and businesses.

When both phases are complete, over 90% of Lee County residents will be able to enjoy PRTC, the best, most reliable internet in Kentucky!

PRTC applied for and was awarded an $18 million dollar Reconnect 4 loan/grant through the USDA to construct over 200 miles of fiberoptic internet in Lee County.

Founded in 1950, PRTC now has over 10,000 internet customers in 8 counties and is excited to partner with Lee County’s schools, businesses, and citizens to bring a better quality of life to eastern Kentucky!
